Hello Friends!
It has been quite a while since I last wrote a blog... since October to be exact. When I wrote that blog I titled it "Getting Healthy" and since then I have done nothing of the sort - UNTIL NOW.
Back in the October blog, I talked about how I went to see an allergist who told me I was allergic to all sorts of things. Things like: chocolate, whey, dairy (milk, cheese), peppers, peanuts, sweeteners, and eggs. Tragic, I know. She also diagnosed me with Candida - look it up - too much "bad" yeast in my stomach. She gave me probiotics and other supplements to take to try and kill the bad yeast and build the good yeast. She also told me I needed to start eating "Caveman Style". And no, she didn't mean LIKE a caveman. She meant following the plan of what they would have eaten - aka: Paleo. This would allow me to avoid the foods that my body cannot tolerate - such as: gluten, dairy and sugar; and help me to eat "clean" and healthy.
So yesterday I threw out/donated (to my siblings) my entire pantry and refrigerator. Everything in my house is now clean eating approved! (Meaning meats, veggies and fruits, basically). And today I began my journey. Yes. JOURNEY. NOT a diet - a journey. However, I hit a snag - already! I got up feeling great! And then I took the supplements and probiotics and with 5 minutes I was throwing up. YES THROWING UP. Because, of course, ONLY ME - I am allergic to the probiotic! How does that even happen? So that is the first bump in my long journey.
On the flip side, I am excited to start this journey. I bought 4 apps on my iPhone FULL of recipes and I even bought a cookbook called 'Against All Grain'. The down side to all of this is that I have to learn how to cook and not burn down the kitchen... it will definitely be an adventure!
